Superhero Writing Prompt

Superhero Writing Prompt - now this is a writing prompt that everyone will love! I am not going to lie, I got this writing prompt idea from my husband's love for the superheros! I have been watching a lot of those superhero shows lately!

Also, I have been trying to give my students a chance to be a bit introspective and this project did just that. During this project, my students had to think about something that they love about themselves. To guide their thinking, I gave them an example of something I love about myself. My superpower is being able to teleport; therefore, I am the "Teleporting Teacher." Why you ask? Well, as a teacher, I am proud that I can create exciting lessons. My superpower is the ability to transport the class anywhere to make learning more exciting.

Then... the chatting began! The students couldn't help but talk about all the things they love about themselves! I couldn't believe it; what a character building experience. After they determined their superpower, they drew themselves as a superhero. One of my favorite superheros that the students came up with was, "Senser Girl" whose superpower was super empathy. She could feel what people were going through and would lend a helping hand or a listening ear.

Here is where the writing begins... the students wrote a short "episode" starring themselves as the superhero. They completed their episode and couldn't wait to peer edit to share with their friends. It was amazing to see how hard they worked because they wanted their episode to be "awesome."

In a reflection letter at the end of the year, the students said that this was one of their all time favorite prompts! I was thrilled to see the students so excited about writing!

Introduction

Welcome to Let's be Franco in 5!

I am so excited to share the ins and out of my classroom with you. In the past 5+ years, I have grown so much as a 5th grade teacher and I can't wait to share some of my nuggets of wisdom and share some of the products that I use to help my classroom run smoothly. I have started a new venture of sharing the products I create on Teachers Pay Teachers, check them out! The best part about my products is I try them out in my own classroom and can let you know what the students think. :)

Leave a comment to let me know what you think! Also, let me know if there is something you would like to see on the blog or Teachers Pay Teachers!

Happy Teaching!
